High Magick vs Low Magick

High magick:

It’s a ceremonial type of magick, strongly focused on specific and complex rituals, tools, timing and incantations. Everything has to be precise in this kind of magick, usually following already written steps from old grimoires.

This type of magick emphasises on connecting and also on producing effects in aspects having to do with emotions, with 'the invisible', and with the spirit world It seeks to enhance spiritual growth and development and also to bring one closer to deities or with the divine.

The invocation of angels, demons, spirits and gods is a highly common practice in this type of magick, usually nature or natural/physical phenomena does not play a big role.

This form of magick is vastly used by practitioners of Kemeticism, Qabalism (Kabbalism), Enochian Magick, Tenebrae Artes (or Infernal) Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and Thelema.

Low magick:

This type of magick focus more on attaining physical results or on producing effects that will show on the physical plane, it tends to be about everyday needs such as money, health, protection, etc. Low magic tends to be really practical and quick to do.

Low Magick finds nature to be important, and plays a huge part on the practice of this kind of magick, it utilizes natural objects such as crystals, herbs, rocks, the elements, the weather, seasonal changes, animal parts or anything found within nature and the physical plane.

This form of magick is practice today by many all around the world, kitchen witchcraft, candle magick, herbalism, etc could be included in this category of magick.

Which one is better?

It all depends on what you are seeking to attain with the practice on magick, neither of them is better than the other, they simply focus on different things and utilises different methods.

Most of today’s movements uses a combination of both types of magick, for example Wicca.

In conclusion, both forms of magick can be incredibly useful and effective, and almost "equal" in their strength, both serve the same purpose, which is to archive a desired result or change intended by the practitioner.
